Hello all. Thank you for your support. I do not need to campaign this year because no other candidate submitted their name. I will take that as a sign that Area 1 is doing well and I am representing your interests. Below is my candidate statement that would have been in the election information for November.

My name is Dan Walsh, and I am running for re-election to the Saddleback Valley Unified School District (SVUSD) Board of Education. With a child in the district, I am vested in high-quality education. My experience as a local college professor and parent gives me a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges across the district.

Every student in SVUSD deserves access to a great education. Therefore, I am always advocating for Area 1. We have great educational programs such as a STEAM school, an International Baccalaureate program, and open access to the internationally recognized Dual Language Immersion programs to name a few. I will continue to support these educational opportunities that contribute to student success.

The district is facing fiscal challenges due to declining enrollment. I will continue to work with administration and teachers to make responsible decisions that minimize impacts in the classroom. The answer cannot be increasing class sizes.

I am honored to have the support of the district teachers. They know what is best for our students.
